JVC Certifies Globalstor ExtremeStor-4K for its Groundbreaking 4K Projector

Pairing of ExtremeStor-4K with DLA-SH4K gives users real-time view of 4K content

October 28, 2009 --

DMN Newswire--2009-10-28--
Globalstor Data Corporation, a premier OEM integrator of high-performance RAID, SAN and storage/video servers, proudly announces that its ExtremeStor-4K, the company's video storage and playback workstation for 4K and RED 4K content, has won certification for use with JVC's DLA-SH4K 4K projector.  Directors, cinematographers and editors, among others, can leverage the combination of the ExtremeStor-4K and DLA-SH4K to view 4K content in real time at full resolution.

JVC's certification of the ExtremeStor-4K with its flagship 4K projector comes at a time when growing numbers of post-production facilities, screening rooms, independent editors, colorists and cinematographers require playback platforms and projection technologies capable of supporting uncompressed 2K, 4K, RED 4K and other graphics-intensive acquisition formats.  By utilizing the ExtremeStor-4K to play back content to the DLA-SH4K, users can view 4K content at full resolution and in real time during the DI process, giving them the same view of the content as an audience member looking at the final cut.

"After seeing the Globalstor ExtremeStor-4K's performance at SIGGRAPH and the 3D Summit, JVC felt it was a natural fit for the DLA-SH4K projector," says David Walton, assistant vice president for marketing communications at JVC.  "Its ability to process in real time the extremely graphics-intensive resolutions of today's acquisition formats will help JVC continue to push forward its mission of allowing industry professionals to experience the next step of visualization solutions for DI production and post. We're happy to certify the ExtremeStor-4K for use with the DLA-SH4K."

Globalstor's ExtremeStor-4K, the latest generation of the company's acclaimed ExtremeStor-DI video storage workstation, is the first to offer native, uncompressed 4K, stereoscopic 2K and R3D (RED) real-time playback in a single portable system.  Unlike any approach offered by the competition, the ExtremeStor-4K offers its robust architecture, scalability, reliability and ease-of-use in a compact tower design that can also be rack-mounted.

"We are thrilled that JVC has certified the Globalstor ExtremeStor-4K for use with its visionary DLA-SH4K projector," says Scott Leif, president of Globalstor Data Corporation.  "When we announced the ExtremeStor-4K earlier this year, we viewed it as a significant step forward for the industry, and were eager to see it paired with the next-generation 4K displays and projectors.  Being able to play out to the DLA-SH4K truly brings home to the end user the incredible power of the 4K format."

Incorporating the NVIDIA Quadro Plex 2200 D2 supported by PNY Technologies, the Globalstor ExtremeStor-4K playback mechanism is available in rack and tower versions. Capacity ranges from 1.4 TB to 9 TB.
